In the early 1800s the castle became a comfortable noble residence, equipped with cutting-edge systems, including running hot water and central heating. The restoration works were followed by the architect Adolfo Mastrigli who designed the construction of the cylindrical tower which dominates the castle and which has become, over the years, the symbol of Caccuri.
Designed by the architect Adolfo Mastrigli commissioned by Baron Guglielmo Barracco, it was completed on November 4, 1885. Inside it hides, on the first floor, an ancient water collection tank that was to serve both the needs of the house and to feed cascade the fountains that embellished the bastion, the entrance hall and the entrance garden; on the second floor a retractable spiral staircase, allows you to climb on the roof from where it is possible to admire an enchanting panorama that extends from the mountain of the Serra Grande throughout the valley of the Marquisate to Crotone and its sea.
Inside the Castle there is the Palatine Chapel which still retains the form conferred by the renovation works sponsored by the Cavalcanti family and carried out between 1669 and 1705. Inside there are important pictorial works such as “La Maddalena Penitente” by the great painter Neapolitan Domenico Gargiulo and “The Miracles of St. Thomas Aquinas“, a canvas created by the Bolognese painter Domenico Maria Muratori which is the model of the altarpiece of a similar subject preserved in Rome in the Church of the Holy Spirit of the Neapolitans.

In Caccuri the Sila highland breeze matches up with that of the sea. It is the secret of Calabria, more than a piece of land between the Tyrrhenian and Ionian Sea. Here’s everything thet can enchant a historian, an artist, philosopher. Against the background of the ancient castle and the beautiful municipal park, there is the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie from the 14th century, which with its grandeur dominates the historic center which, in turn, between ups and downs, alleys and winding streets welcomes guests by immersing them in a decidedly suggestive atmosphere.
